This is a simple washcloth made by modifying the basic single crochet stitch. It’s a great first step into seeing how simple changes can drastically change the look of the finished project.

• DESCRIPTION: Using an easy alteration to a basic stitch creates a simple (but not plain) design perfect for any project. This stitch creates a dense fabric that would work well as a washcloth, scarf, or even a baby blanket.
• GAUGE & SIZING: Gauge (tension) isn’t very important in this project. For reference, my gauge is 14 sts and 13 rows per 4”.
Play around with hook sizes until you find one that makes a fabric you like. This pattern is written to produce a washcloth roughly 9.25 inches by 9.25 inches.
• ABBREVIATIONS & STITCHES USED:
